Do remember that the big medical centers for aneurysm surgery are for planned, scheduled surgeries. One needs to look to your local cardiovascular surgeons in case of an emergency rupture. There will be no time for referral. So make yourself familiar with your local cardiovascular surgeon when your measure is close to surgery time

A primary plan to go to the local ER at an average hospital in an emergent situation comes with a low odds of surviving.
My local cardiologist missed multiple things with me. The local surgeons wouldn't have been able to do anything but maybe stabilize me for transport to Jacksonville and yes the Mayo team would transport me via ambulance or helicopter. I met with the cardiovascular surgeon on Aug 12th and was in surgery on Sep 10 not counting a catheter procedure on Sep 4th to occlude a bronchial to pulmonary artery fistula before surgery. The local people couldn't even do that.
Survival is low at low volume facilities if they can even do it. Mine was done in an emergent situation when 3 other major procedures were being done. I was already on the table and still barely made it at the best facility in Florida. I would have been gone by the time an ambulance got to me if that happened at home.
