I have my follow up post op 4 week appt. on 5/13 to discuss the nerve issue. So we will see what the doctor says. I'm afraid to take Gabapentin, I get very depressed. I was doing some research and found there is therapy for nerve damage? Have you heard of that?

There are a number of stimulation techniques to help nerves heal, but this may be too soon after surgery to employ them. Many are things the PT can teach you to do at home, as they need to be done a couple times a day to be effective. These are quite simple, and effective at easing or stopping some of the symptoms. The stimulation is also reported to help the healing of the nerves go a little faster - but faster is relative - the neurons need to be rebuilt and reconnected, and have their own timetable.

Maybe you can ask the surgeon for a PT referral, once he confirms everything is healing properly.

I have not heard of nerve therapy but I have heard of people going to PT for nerves, so maybe the same thing? I’m sorry gabapentin makes you feel depressed, I don’t notice a difference when on it. Let me know if you discover anything that helps.
