Hi @flyjim. It’s wonderful that you experienced literally no post op pain. I am amazed when people say they had hardly any pain with their THR. I wish that could have been my experience, but it wasn’t.
It was a surgery with the expected pain from all they do to replace a hip. The first two weeks were intense! I’ve had many bone surgeries and it was just what I thought it would be…painful. At 4 months post op I feel great and am able to do most things but still have tissue healing. I’m 64 and in great shape. Everyone’s experience with THR will be different.

I'm mentally preparing myself for 2 weeks of pain. If it's not that bad bonus for me. Praying all goes well. It's just scary with all my other issues and my main fear is my daughter's wedding. I would like to walk down the isle without a cane. Is it the worse thing that would happen? No, but I would also like to be out on the dance floor enjoying her wedding.
My surgeon said minimal PT and I don't understand that comment. I will ask him when the surgery is done to see what he suggests then. I will work hard towards the goal of enjoying her special day. I appreciate everyone's feedback. I want to be prepared mentally for this.
