Brain Zaps When Falling Asleep
I feel like an electric wire, shorting out everywhere as I fall asleep. Every time lately- day or night, laying down or sitting up. Since covid pretty much. Head, chest, even stomach. Has anyone else had this, and found relief?

Low progesterone. Felt like I had electrical shocks to body.
Hello,
Sorry about what you're going through. Believe it or not I get entire body zaps especially at night with stabbing pain. Have you been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and confirmed with the condition? If yes, this condition has a mind of its own literally and its sysmptoms vary a lot from one person to another especially in the idiopathic case where the causes are not detected. You definitely need a good neurologist if you don't already have one.
I hope you can get some relief somehow.
Take care and have a serene evening,
gus
Do you have any other symptoms? I had this exact symptom except it wasn't just at night, it was random times during the day.
I was subsequently diagnosed with "small fiber neuropathy" by my Neurologist. I did a deep dive into my medical conditions and these symptoms and suspected I had a B12 deficiency as that can be responsible for many neurological symptoms. I actually had 5 neuro symptoms. I had my blood tested at a private lab on my dime and the B12 level in my blood was so low, it could not even be read! The reason my B12 was non-existent was because in 2018 I was diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis which often leads to malabsorption of vitamins.
Since then, I started with B12 Hydrocobalamin injections, at first every other day and now I do the self injections every week. Under guidance of a Functional Medicine Doctor as most Family Doctors /GPs really don't understand the importance.
4 of my neuro symptoms (including those electric shocks which I called zingers) have completely resolved and the 5th is about 50% better. Bingo, mystery solved and I feel so, so much better!
Certainly this my own individual story. Lots of reasons for this symptom, just wanted to share mine with you. B12 is critical for nerve health. All the best, keep us updated please!
