Hello,
Yes. I have severe diverticulitis years ago mistaking it for kidney stones. The pain was similar. So I just waited for the stone to pass. Obviously that never happened. I had a perforated colon. Surgery then was to remove my sigmoid colon. 7 years ago. I’ve had 3-4 episodes of diverticulitis in the last year and a half. The last being the most severe 4 weeks ago. My symptoms were severe pain in my lower left abdomen, chills, fever and severe body aches. So I went to the ER and they did a CT scan and verified it. Along with a blood test that indicated my white blood cell count was high. The infection and inflammation showed on the CT that it was at the location of my previous surgery. At the connection of where they attached my colon back together. I now have appointments set up in Rochester to see what happens next.

Hi, @pdemarce - I wanted to let you know I moved your post here so that you can chat with other members talking about diverticulitis and colectomy:

Hoping members such as @isadora2021 @jfperrone @gwenrn74 and others will have some input for you on having surgery to remove your sigmoid colon to help your diverticulitis, and then having diverticulitis episodes years later.
