The standard MD Community does not recognize and understand the term protracted withdrawal. In their opinion, when a drug is tapered off of it is out of the body and there should be no additional effects on the body. But, we know that this is certainly not true. It is a real thing and how to avoid it is sometimes impossible due to genetics, the ability to effectively remove toxins, metabolism etc. Also , MD doctors do not like a patient to discuss anything other than symptoms so that they can make a diagnosis and prescribe medications. They do not have the ability to spend the time to look for root cause etc. Finally, they do not know how to treat protracted withdrawal; not sure anyone really does have any consistent answers. These withdrawals can occur with SSRI drugs and certainly benzodiazepines. I believe you will have to seek out a naturopathic psychiatrist to get any answers or a plan forward.

I don’t know what a naturopathic psychiatrist is really or where to find one but thank you for your response. I am just sitting in the living room shaking and filled with fear.
