PMR is polymyalgia rheumatica.
Polymyalgia rheumatica , or PMR, is a relatively common condition that causes stiffness and pain in muscles. The word "poly" means many and the word "myalgia" means muscle pain. PMR is a rheumatic disease that can literally disable a person overnight. Long term Prednisone has been the treatment since the 1950's.

The pain caused by PMR is similar to RA. However, there is no evidence of rheumatoid arthritis, such as swollen joints, or positive blood tests. CRP and ESR are usually elevated but not always.
The name polymyalgia is misleading. The inflammation that causes the pain is not in the muscles themselves, but rather in the tissues around the joints, like the lining of the joint (synovium), bursae (fluid-filled sacs), and tendons. The location of the pain is "all over" but mostly in the shoulders and hips. The inflammation doesn't do too much damage to the joints like RA does.
Ouch!
I guess we just have to be lucky to be living
