@richtar I’ve done all the shots, P/T and everything else when the meniscus in my right knee tore for no reason.
That was painful enough for me to have surgery.

About 4 years later, left knee was bone on bone and extremely painful. So, I decided to have it replaced. The recovery was a very painful time. It took at least a month before it felt better. However, it was well worth the pain. So much so, I had the right knee done a year later.
The entire process was wearing on me to say the least, but I’m happy with the results.

I have osteoarthritis everywhere, thanks to genetics (or rather Grandma). I’ve had multiple surgeries on my hands including arthoplasty of my thumb.

As I mentioned, I had the surgeries for the pain relief and a better life.

Susan,

Thank you.
Your history is very informative. Several people told me to do whatever I can to avoid surgery. In the end, sometimes surgery is the best option, or it may be the only choice available, as I found out with my right leg.
It's funny; at this point, I've decided to continue PT for another three weeks.
In the meantime, the pain is better, except when getting up in the morning or after sitting behind a desk for several hours. After a minute or two of stretching, the pain subsides rather well.
The problem is that my left knee is at least 30% larger than my right knee.

@SusanEllen66 was the arthroplasty of your thumb successful? Was your thumb more usable after the surgery than before? How long ago was the surgery?
