this site and the information I've received has been extremely helpful. I have decided to wait 1 year before taking any prescription medication in hopes that my increase in calcium intake along with Caltrace will help.

I was taking 800 mg of calcium and had to stop as my Eye doctor noted that she could see the Calcium buildup in my eyes and was concerned not that it would hurt my eyes, but whether it could also be building up on my arteries. So, I am taking Calciven with K2, and once the AlgaeCal supplement arrives, I will ONLY take it. It's not cheap, but neither are our bodies, and we only have one body and one life. I want to make the best version of myself without harming the rest of me to live a healthier, happier, longer life ahead.
I took fosomax for 2 1/2 years and ended up with two atypical femur fracture surgeries. After rods and nails I had to learn to walk again. Doing well now after 5 months but fosomax can be a problem for a small minority who take it.
Good morning! Very appreciative to have this group for information and help! It has been a year of taking fosomax and algaecal. The results are in and the medication, supplements, exercise and diet change all worked positively. I am ostopenic now !yey!as per the results, yet still have osteoporosis on my L3. I have my dr’s appt this coming Thursday. I al guessing he will want me to continue on fosomax because of that one vertebrae…. Just wanted an opinion here if maybe I can get off of fosomax and continue algaecal , exercise and diet, or go for one more year of fosomax? Also do these need to be forever medications? Or once ostopenic one can diacontinue? Thanks in advance for your help!
Wow! That is great news. So it is possible to have a reversal. I just got diagnosed last week and the doctor wants to put me on alendronate/fosamax. I have heard so many people for taking and others to just do lifestyle changes. I really don’t want to go on any meds if it can be helped. My t score is -3.2 what was yours?

You can not reverse this from your eyes however it will NOT effect your eyes also.
I am no longer taking prescription meds only AlgaeCal Plus with Strontium Boost, D3 Complex and Collagen.
I was a dancer “Clogging” the last 40 yrs but have given it up due to many other reasons beyond my control. I still walk all the time I have a weighted vest and have done a ton of my own research which lead me here and to AlgaeCal products.

I just got diagnosed last week and my GP wanted to put me on alendronate right away. But i would like to speak to an endocrinologist first to weigh all my options. First, i want to know if my number of -3.2 is very bad?. My diagnosis was a total shock because I am only 63, am in good health and exercise 3x a week.

Dawn, Did you have any warning before this happened, such as bone pain in femurs? Did you do CTX bone markers to monitor what alendronate was doing prior to the fractures? I am very sorry this happened to you. Pray you get stronger daily.

no. just a scan due to my age, apparently. I'm 65. Didn't feel a thing. I actually stretch and walk everyday and eat quite healthy. I was shocked. I started eating more calcium and have begun taking Citracal. But I'm holding off on an RX for a year to see if I can improve it myself.
correction...Citracal

That is what i am afraid of. Hope you are doing better. Are you back on any meds? Did you try life style changes before trying medication?
