Sounds like you’re on the mend . Have a great summer.
what an amazing story. Glad your surgery was successful. I too have a 4.4 cm ascending anurysm and pretty much at the root of my heart. I have only talked with one surgeon at UCLA so far and he said that the only option I have is an open heart surgery . I am currently in Germany and waiting for an appointment to see a specialist here in Stuttgart. I was hoping that there are other options to get this fixed but reading your story I doubt that ... My question for you is : what kind of pain did you experience prior to getting surgery?
I am pretty active and I experience a stinging sensation in my heart on occasion. I also feel that my heart palpitations have worsened in the last year. It's hard not to read into this at times and think that every little thing i feel might be related to "the aneurysm" but I try to be positiv . I hope your are well , best wishes.
Wow, you made it through that and I am worried about a double aneurysm in the ascending aorta with 4.2cm and a 4.5cm aneurysms. With an average growth rate of 1/3rd cm each year, I figure I have at least 3 years to go before surgery needs to be considered, since 5.5cm appears to be the level at which something has to be done. But, every six months requires a test to see if mine falls within the average growth rate. Thank you for sharing your triumphant story. it makes one realize that there is always hope no matter how serious one sees their own situation.
