I found a spa that offered it. No doctor's note needed. I let my pulmonologist know about it and he was thrilled. You go into a room covered in salt (sodium chloride, usually some type of pharmaceutical-grade salt) This salt is finely ground into micro-particles and dispersed into the air within a salt room or chamber. The salt brings moisture into the lungs and thins the mucous making it easier to expel.
I go to a health spa where they offer salt therapy. You go into a room that is covered with salt, on the floor, walls and ceiling. Sodium Choride is atomized into the room for 45 minutes. You are breathing in pure atomized salt for 45 minutes. it is amazing how it clears out your sinuses, nose and lungs. The salt brings moisture to the lungs, thinning them. Many of the clients who go to where I go are families with small children. There was a 3 week old baby in one session. Halotherapy is extremely good also for asthma, bronchitis, common cold, anything that involves the lungs and breathing system. I just googled alternative treatment for MAC and a website popped up for the place I go to. You can also just google facilities that provide salt treatment rooms or halotherapy therapies. Good luck! My pulmonologist was thrilled I was adding this protocol to my airway clearance regime.
