Reclast pro and con

@yikes

I have had reclast infusions twice. I did fine and density continues to stabilize. They did a test for ionized calcium with a very expensive handeheld device before my last infusion, and if my score would have been too low, I wouldn't have been given the infusion. Some of the pain I was having that I didn't realize was caused by osteoporosis began improving within weeks. If there was something better and my doctor could get it authorized, I'm sure she you would have me on it. I must admit I am lucky to have complete faith in my doctor. I have vile GERD so oral wasn't an option.

I wonder...such a mixed bag of side effects - some very little, some horrific, of any of the meds. Therefor it seems none are particularly good. I am questioning going on reclast; never ever heard anything about a possible lower dose to see how I'd handle it or detailed discussion about pre infusion prep; appointments coming up with my gyne, a new rheumatologist, gastro (if I stay on Fosamax his ideas of how to handle IBS stomach issue exacerbation), also Ortho surgeon (hip replaced 14 years ago) for his take on bone health in general and suggestions of PT for osteo, and platelet therapy which is being looked into not only for fracture healing but also for osteoporosis. If these drugs do not significantly help our bones and if we still fracture while on these meds I am having a difficult time seeing the point of it all. Thanks to all of you on this site! I wouldn't even know what to question if not for hearing about all your experiences.
