Hi, I’ve had a longer time of PMR, but have only been on prednisone for 6 months. I used Aleve for pain initially, wanting to avoid prednisone. I started having more issues, and my rheumatologist started me on 5mg of prednisone. I’m weaning very slowly, down to 2mg now and ready to drop to 1 mg. My last SED and CRP were both in normal range, so the dose is appropriate for me. Good luck, hoping you continue to do well!

I also have been tapering down from the 4 mg that I started on. I’m taping very slowly every couple of weeks. I’m now off of 4 mg and teetering between two and 3 mg. I will continue that for a couple weeks and then drop the 3 mg and go from 2 mg to 1mg. So far I haven’t had any issues with pain during my taper. I just got blood drawn today so I’m anxious to get my results back to see where my levels are. If they show my inflation numbers are low than maybe, I could be in remission. Fingers crossed

Hi. I had my blood work done this past Friday and just got my results back and both my CRP and SED rates were in the normal range. I’m very pleased with those results. Like I said earlier, I have been tapering slowly. I started at 4 mg in December and I’m now down to 2 mg.
So far, I don’t have any issues with flares. I’m thankful that I never had to go above 4 mg. I wanna be off prednisone in the worst way, but I will continue the very slow taper. I’ll stay with 2 mg for a couple weeks before tapering down to 1mg. I see my rheumatologist in about a week and I’ll see what he says before I start my taper down to 1 mg. I’m hoping that because my numbers are so low and I don’t have any pain on this low dose that maybe I’m in remission.
