Unexplained upper back pain

Hello! My back started to have this same exact issue after December (after a 3 hour flight!). I thought it was just a knot that would go away, but it has persisted til now and moves around. It is in the same spot (started under rightside scapula, moved to spine or left side and now currently peck and shoulderblade) I assume it moves around because its compensating by using other muscles around but it pulls and tires them out as well. Ive been going to PT for a few months but still nothing is getting better. They also do dry-needling, cupping, and massages and yet still my back pain persists. The massage therapists tell me I have superrrr tight muscles and my scapula is like stuck to my ribs. Ive been taking their advice to not sleep on my sides or stomach, heating pads, stretching, and drinking lots of water, but pain is sadly still here. Nothing is helping. I am not a fan of taking pain meds, but when the pain is unbearable I do. I have no idea how to “loosen” up my back muscles back to the way they were! I feel for all of us ;(

This sounds very similar to my issue. Does the dry needling help at all? It has definitely helped loosen my muscles, but not completely and it doesn't last forever. There has got to be some reason why some of us have these muscles that won't relax.
