What is the major difference between pregabalin and gabapentin?
I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy (diagnosed in January of this year). I was prescribed gabapentin 2-3 hours before bedtime. At this point I am at 600mg which helps while I know it's a low dose for many, at this point it's fine for me. I had not heard of pregabalin until today when I was researching info. in Pharmacy Times. I know that pregabalin is quickly absorbed while gabapentin is absorbed around 3 hours post dose. My question is: IS ANYONE ON PREGABALIN? If so, how is that working out??

Pregabalin is lyrical..
Gabalin is neurotin.
I am allergic to both of them. They have sulfate. When I do have to take a lyrica I put it in a vegetarian capsule with two Benadryl. Only when I start crying which is maybe every four to six months. There is a lot of nasty side effects with both of them including memory loss.

Here is the neurontin.

They are both derivatives of GABA gamma-aminobutyric acid as you can tell since both have GABA in the name. I expect that differences depend upon who takes them. I had few side effects [but side effects were the same] from either one, but the GabaPentin is mild compared to PreGabalin. For me Lyrica/PreGabalin is quite effective at controlling some of the effects of diabetic neuropathy. Baclofen is also a derivative of GABA, but it works mainly as a muscle relaxant.
That explains why I am allergic to Baclofen. When I take it I feel like I have the flu. I feel awful.
Has anyone with long term (15 years for me) which has progressed from SNN in feet to now diagnosed with Large nerve Idiopathic neuropathy that involves calves had any suspicion that the Vegus Nerve might also being affected
Are you also allergic to GABA, Lyrica or GabaPentin?
Yes I can’t take either one. They break out my mouth. Plus I get blisters on my body.
