Nerve pain after discitis/osteomylitis of lumbar spine
Has anyone had or knows someone who had osteomyelitis/dicitis of lumbar spine and is still suffering chronic severe nerve pain more the 3 yrs. out?
The sharp pain is so bad in bed, trying to turn over or get out of bed and now it is worse riding in car and sometimes walking. Therapy only made pain worse. Currently take gabapentin and Tizanidine.
Any suggestions?

momchesney, do you know if the original cause was viral or bacterial. Some develop chronic nerve pain, if there is nerve damage. You may have had subsequent or consequent damage to the disc or vertebra. And there may be remedy for the pain. You might ask for an MRI of the area to determine what can be done to resolve the pain. I hope it can be resolved. Three years of suffering is too long. I'd suggest that you don't wait for the MRI.
It was a bacterial infection and vertebrae biopsy said acute and chronic osteomyelitis. I was given 8 weeks of picc line antibiotics.
I am to have an MRI in 2 weeks.
