Why me?
I’m just depressed about my stomach issues. I have a hiatal hernia that is now causing pain. I just went to the doctor on Friday to find out that I have a distended esophagus. I was advised to get a scope and believe me I tried, but I have horrible insurance and I will have to come out of pocket with most of the costs. I tried to go online to get some insurance and was told that I have to wait for open enrollment in November. I’m not rich and I have to get this done because my symptoms are obviously getting worse to where I wake up at night in pain . I’m just so sick of this.

There are exceptions to enrolling outside the normal enrollment period. I’d explore that and depending on your income you could explore Medicaid, which is always available for those qualify. You might also check with the financial counselor at the hospital. I hope you are able to find some options.
I actually have insurance, but a terrible one through my job. I am checking around though. Thanks
Oh, that’s unfortunate. I hope you find help.
Thanks
I'm so sorry you are having such a problem and then to have insurance issues too! Celia16's suggestion of talking to a financial counselor at your medical facility is a very good one. They often have some good programs that will help.
Also ask God for help. Just talk to him like he's your best friend and he is! God can stop the pain and straighten out the insurance problems. I'll say a prayer for you too.
I wish you the best.

Good advice!
You really have to focus on getting better, and not worry about the cost.
One thing at a time.
@pjrj
Which insurance do you have through your employer? Are you saying they will not cover getting an endoscopy if a gastroenterologist says you need one? Why do they say it is not a covered procedure? Is it not covered or do you have a high deductible plan where you need to pay quite a bit upfront before insurance kicks in?
You may want to check with the healthcare marketplace to see if you can get better or supplemental coverage and if there are additional financial supports through your state.

I agree that you should check with the hospital/center where you would get the procedure done. I use to work in the healthcare industry and most places will offer a payment plan. The payment plan can often be for several years as long as you make regular payments.
