@tcarson52 I don't think you are odd! I was recently diagnosed with Vocal Chord Dysfunction by my pulmonologist, who sent me to an ENT and a Speech Therapist. Based on what I learned from them, I have had this since childhood and Asthma, Bronchiectasis, infections, nebulizers and inhalers have all contributed. I suggest you see an ENT for an evaluation. The speech Therapist is working with me on breathing exercises and breath control.

Have you been diagnosed with asthma, COPD or another lung disorder? And has your heart function been checked?
