@dlydailyhope Thank you so much! The volunteers at Save a Gato in Puerto Rico do a good job of helping the cats there. The ones that are too feral are not adoptable, but they are fed and given medical care as needed. When they find a friendly mom cat, they will bring her and her litter inside and to foster care and then they find homes for all of them. The community cats are loved there and protected as best they can be.
I have been working on training cats for a while now all with positive reinforcement and praise for good behavior, and when they show aggression toward another cat, they are separated from me. All of them want my attention. One has been a challenge as she was friendly at the shelter in a room with many cats, but she became aggressive after I brought her home. She bonded very quickly to me and was jealous of the other cats. I have had to have a lot of patience with her and watch her for any sign. I've learned a lot because of owning a horse and needing to understand training and animal behavior. I was fortunate to watch a training clinic with Buck Brannaman. There were times I worried that it wouldn't work with this cat, but she has made good steady progress over several months. The newest big kitten from Puerto Rico has been much easier to work with, but these two are now OK together while I am supervising them. Training can only go as fast as they can adapt to each other.
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad I can help.
