Having been seen for both CRC and melanoma I was very interested in seeking primary care at Mayo Rochester, especially since I'm only 100 mi away however I was told that primary care is not a possibility.... Maybe that is changing?

Reach out to the doc at Mayo that you see the most and ask them if they will act as your PCP there as far as getting appts with other doctors there. Usually one of the staff does the actual contact with the dept to which you're being referred.

I have been told that primary care physicians are reserved for those in close proximity to Rochester as otherwise local people would not be able to get appointments. That makes sense.
The real need I see is for a "Medical Review Provider" for Mayo patients with multiple medical conditions. Why? Treatment for one health problem may impact negatively the treatment for a different health issue and needs to be coordinated. Also, choices in medication for one condition may benefit or negatively impact a different health issue as well. There is also a need to have consistent lab work and testing which means all done in the same place.
I read all my reports, so I have stayed on top of things, and requested consults at Mayo when I see the need, but I fear most people don't do that

As previous mentioned, Mayo's primary care is mostly for people in area surrounding Rochester. Are you located near a Mayo Health System locations? There are locations in Southern MN, WI and Decorah Iowa.
