Congratulations on your bone density improvement! I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and don't think I would feel well reducing my thyroid medication even slightly. Actually, I think I would feel much better increasing the dosage because I am usually tired and sluggish, but don't want to increase the thyroid hormone because I read that it can extract calcium from bones.
Do you have any side effects from stopping your thyroid hormones?
Where did you read this about thyroid meds? I am taking them and my TSH levels are always at about 2.4. I was borderline about needing the medication 20 years ago, but have been taking it ever since. I asked my Endo about decreasing, but it's not happening. Since I am having so much trouble with my Osteoporosis and he is overly busy, he doesn't seem to want to mess with it.
That's very interesting. I just saw a Naturopathic doctor who advised the same thing. When I stopped my thyroid medication for a week due to unavailability, I literally tanked in energy. Having my blood work done tomorrow to test my thyroid, but wondering what you did in alternative. You would think Endocrinologists would know this. I've been to two and neither mentioned it.
