Nerveblock injections?
Hi. My husband has chronic peripheral neuropathy in his feet. We're considering nerve block injections. Has anyone tried this treatment?

What other treatments have you tried? Does your husband have diabetes or what caused his neuropathy? How long has he had it?
I had a nerve block procedure done several years ago, and it had zero results. Don't waste your time/money.
My doctor os going to try a lumbar sympathetic nerve block on my next appointment. I have a DRG stimulator, a Nalu stimulator and have been on tramadol for 5 years and also gabapentin. We recently tried a pain med called nucynta. I had heart issues right away...fast pulse, etc. I quit taking it after 48 yrs. I am going to try the Mayo Chronic Pain program in Sept for 16 days. It changes the way your brain receives the pain signals. I hope it works!
Hi, bburch1954,
I had four lumbar root nerve block and on the 5th one I had a bad reaction, it caused swelling , reddening and heat to the skin in and left me with more and constant pain to my left leg, also muscle weakness. I tired to contact my consultant to inform him, it took a year to be able to communicate with him about how it has affected me. (that's how the NHS in the UK works) I had to tell my GP several times for them to record it on my records.
I finally reported to the Yellow Card scheme- so there is evidence that someone had a negative effect to this treatment.
My lumbosacral radiculopathy, is pretty intense and I wonder how I cope as it's so debilitating, but gentle strengthening exercises, Yin Yoga, Qi Gong - Pregablin 25mg 4 x a day ( as I had an allergic reaction to Gabapentin- Tramadol wires my brain and I can't sleep and it has no affect except zone me out, which means I wouldn't be able to work. Also, acupuncture, cupping -(the heat type) and massage.
Everyone reacts difeerently to the treatment, some have no affect at all and some people get some relief from it. Just be mindful of the effects of steroids on the bones, thats another reason I stopped having the injections, I researched the long term effects of it.
I hope this helps, at the end of the day it is your body and your choice, I wish you well with the pain management program and it gives you the pain relief you desire. I start a pain management program in May, but its more practical solutions rather than medical intervention.
Regards,
I had what they called an intervention on my spine to block nerves 1 year ago with zero results
Thank you for your helpful report. Capsaicin helps some for the disc. I wish I had more to suggest. It is fun to have someone in Britain communicating. My grandparents were from Cornwall.
I am 94 so probably won't have much that would help you. I use a walker so yoga would be difficult.
