@klue My radiation oncologist is male however I already knew him since he had examined me prior to the brachytherapy. There was also a man, the radiation physicist, who was seated in a room behind glass who could see me. The radiation physicist's job is to consult with the radiation oncologist on the actual radiation that is administered. Is that the main you refer to who "works the equipment to deliver the treatment"?

I can understand your worry and discomfort about all of this. This is why so many of us prefer to have women doctors. Since you've already talked with your radiation oncologist (doctor of radiology) would you like to do that again? Because of the exposure of radiation I recall that no one else can be in the room during the brachytherapy so your husband cannot be in the room with you. Could you ask your doctor what to do? Could you husband accompany you through this as much of the treatment as possible? Is there a social worker in the oncology department that you could talk with to help you with all of this?
