I was taking Mirtazapine for about 3 months and I didn’t feel well from the medication. I couldn’t get in touch with the doctor to see what he suggested I do, long story short, I simply weaned myself by slowly reducing a day each week and I finally got off of them. I don’t recommend that you do this but I felt fine with my own method, you can also ask the pharmacy but they will probably tell you to contact your doctor. I would like to add that this drug had more side effects than benefits for me but I have also read stories that people found it very helpful.

Since you haven’t been on it long, let your doctor know you want to stop it. I could not take mirtazapine because it made me so hungry and I do not want to gain more weight. They tried different medications and combinations that didn’t work for me for over a year. I finally landed on a combination of Sertraline and Bupropion that works some for my major depression.

What other medications have you tried?

I consulted my GP and weaned off it over an 8 week period, just take regular dose for 5 days then one off for a day for two cycles and follow that pattern increasing the days off each fortnight.
