Docetaxel and Carboplatin

My husband had six rounds of docetaxel in 2016 after new spinal lesions started cropping up too fast to treat them only with spot radiation. He had the usual chemo side effects, which were at their worst in week one after the infusion, and which got better over the next two weeks--until it was time for the next infusion. He had no serious side effects such as the ones described by sillyoyster above, and the docetaxel reduced his PSA to undetectable for a long time. Everyone reacts differently to cancer medications, so do discuss the pros and cons of docetaxel with your oncologist, and don't dismiss it out of hand. It is very effective for many men.

Thank you for your reply. I too never had any of the severe things mentioned above, and I also received Carboplatin. A lot of stage four prostate cancer patients have received Docetaxel But few have received Carboplatin with it, which makes it tougher and those were the people I was wanting to hear from.

How long did it reduce his PSA? Quality of life afterwards? Thanks
