My 51-year-old relative has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and I want to ask how it is treated. The osteosarcoma is located in the pelvis.

In our experience, bone marrow transplants, chemotherapy if the tumor is inoperable and a clinical trial. The main goal was to keep the tumor from metastatizing. My mom had a will to live but most importantly an onc oncologist that had started a clinical trial.

@olgatsiagra1974, according to Mayo Clinic osteosarcoma treatment most often involves surgery and chemotherapy. Rarely, radiation therapy also might be an option if the cancer can't be treated with surgery. Read more here:

my son had synovial sarcoma. Treatment was chemo, radiation then surgery. The surgery was 11/24 and so far hasn't returned or spread
