To complicate opinion, I have been diagnosed with cancer but don't know all of details. The extreme exterior of left leg has been hurting for a week. Walking more than a few steps is very painful. There is an exaggerated bulge at hip and the muscle his swollen to the knee. Is this a complication of cancer or infection. I'm a 71 year old male

Blood work CRP and ESR And CBC. X-Ray for sure. Urgent care or ER ASAP. Infection increase in values and WBC. Current dental work? Tenderness to touch. Warmth in area of swelling and increase temp. Hardware issues versus infection needs to be addressed.

I would go to the emergency room. It sounds painful and if it is an infection, you need it treated as soon as possible. They can do X-ray, ct scan and mri to look at your bone and soft tissues plus do bloodwork to check for infection. If an infection, they may need to give you antibiotics. Don’t suffer in silence or delay treatment.
