I am new to this site and only give you advice I wish I had received even a few years ago while I was active, no issues, walking on treadmill, anything I wanted to do. I knew I had osteoporosis but could not tolerate the bisphosphonates. I was never referred to an endocrinologist or any other specialist in osteoporosis which to me is a terrible downfall in the medical field of patient treatment by a family doctor.
So, without knowledge, I just did as you are doing, exercise, weight bearing, etc and last December I had two vertabre fractures and while in therapy, developed two more. I have now had Kyphoplasty on the last two and all are healed, but now I have constant pain from all that has happened to me that is going to take time to heal. So I am telling you this, that you already see what you are doing is not helping so find you an endocrinologist who will have your blood work done and then will sit you down and walk you through all the options.
My Dr and I chose Tymlos for it works and she says she likes it better than others. Plus, like you, I have dental matters I need to have done in the future and Tymlos does not interfere with that.
Ny score was only -2.9 but that was bad enough to have fractures. I did not fall, I just had been busy bending over a lot and wasn't lifting anything heavy. I just crossed my leg to put on my shoe after being tired and snap.
Trust me, you will be so glad to nip this in the bud before you are where I ended up, thinking I could take care of it myself. Was I ever wrong. Good luck.

Hi,
I have seen a Rheumatologist in the past and moved away from that area. I do have an appointment with an Endocrinologist later in the year. I really want a drug that does not deteriorate the jawbone. Thank you for your information. I am so sorry that you are dealing with fractures and pain.

thank you for all this information as i need to find a safe alternative as I have to have dental work done and my doctor wants me to try Prolia. I just do not trust this one drug. I have read a lot of different things on this researching different drugs.
