I am an 85-year-old, with alcohol-induced peripheral neuropathy diagnosed in 2018. Super vitamin B and 300g of ALA seemed to reduce numbness in both feet. No pain or balance issues were experienced over the next 7 years. Learning from the discussions on Mayo Connect that each individual responds differently to various "cures," I have experimented with 50g daily of Biotin for 5 weeks with no detectable change. Switching my ALA to 300g daily of Stabilized R-Lipolic Acid again reduced the intensity of foot numbness this past year. Because the numbness seemed to be intensifying and impacting areas above the ankle, I increased the R-LA to 600g daily March 27 and noticed significant reduction in numbness after April 16. Note: My primary physician is in the loop and ensures my experiments do not conflict with other medications I am taking for gout, acid reflux, and blood pressure.

Great news Jetson.
Yes alcohol was the cause. Nerves are insulated with a fat called MYELIN. Alcohol dissolve fat. Have you cut back enough. Go for it.
