I have had multiple doctors do that to me. If you are older and especially female, you do not always get taken seriously or fully listened to. To me, it isn’t only about being taken seriously or believed, it can be doctor bias, arrogance, ignorance, or disrespect. They just may not care. They stop listening.

There are many doctors who should retire or change careers.

Older patients and females must work extra hard to advocate for themselves and keep pushing for proper diagnosis and treatment options to improve quality of life. You need to do research and educate yourself plus review all of your medical records to have knowledgeable conversations with doctors and to ask questions. If doctors dismiss you, you must fire them and keep looking for doctors who still care to help their patients feel better and improve their quality of life.

I agree; think of it as a great way to quickly screen out a bad dr and move on.
A dr can be academically bright but a disaster with people.

And it's hard when you only have 15 minutes to elaborate and most of those minutes the doctor is looking at his computer plugging in what you are saying. I love it when they bill the insurance company 30 minutes for the visit and I barely got 15.

Oh, yes. I educate myself about my disease, and try to speak to the doctor with confidence. Asking intelligent questions, and not being afraid to correct them if needed is what I do. Of course I am respectful and willing to listen to them.

I go into the exam room armed with the faith, the hope, and the love we all need to get through this life.

Totally agree with you I am an older female and feel once you get to retirement age doctors don't listen anymore.
I am retired and still working and need to be healthy. I bring this up to doctors I have seen that don't listen.
