Good morning, rollo8 (@rollo8)

I was struck by the coincidence: I just purchased my first pair of Hoka, and they happen to be Hoka Clifton 9. They arrived only two days ago. I wore them for 1/2-hour on Day 1 and wll wear them again today for 3/4-hour. I'm determinedto break them in 'properly,' having, in years past, purchased top-dollar running shoes and gone out running immediately, only to end up with aching, irritated feet. Did you find that it was necessary to break in your Clifton 9's? I know many people whopraise Hokas say you can put them on and go out of Day 1 and do as you please with no difficulties. I've been afraid to do that. My PN, by the way, is idiopathic large-fiber, so no pain but lots of balance problems.

Cheers!

I am so late posting.
I did not need any break in for my Hoka Clifton 9's. That said, I feel it is too cushy a year later and I am now in search of a slighly firmer shoe base. My gait just doesn't feel secure. I've tried Zero shoes and could not walk in them. Very unsteady. I like Orthofeet sandals for the comfortable sole, but sandals are not a shoe that I walk in well. No storenear me that sells Orthofeet. I plan to visit Dick's Sporting and try on Brooks and New Balance. Maybe a Sketchers too.
