How long it takes to get PSMA/CT results back ?

We had PSMA/CT last Tuesday and still nobody called or e-maild about findings. I am wondering if that is normal to wait so long for results ?

Do you have a follow-up appointment? They mY want to wait yntil then to share it. You could call in and ask for it.

No, we do not have followup with Urologist that ordered it, nor will we have followup with him since our next step is app. with PC surgeon specialist for robotic RP. We called the urologist's office and were told that results are not in yet. I am just wondering if this time-frame is normal or should we be calling on daily bases ?

My results also took one week to materialize. Maybe start fussing Wed or Thu.

Thanks for the info and suggestion 🙂

I haven't had a PMSA scan, but for my MRI at my local imaging lab and for the biopsy results and pathology results after my proctectomy at Mayo Phoenix, I was able to immediately see the results on their respective portals as soon as the reports were done. I never had to wait to get the results from the ordering physician. I have no idea how common that is but it's worth checking to see if it's available to you. Best wishes.

Also, the language in the report is not that straightforward. They will report uptake in the liver or dome other organ to benchmark without thT implying metatases.

Hi @surftohealth88 ,
I would call the hospital/radiology facility where you had it done and ask when you can expect the results. See if they use MyChart, or a similar portal, then set up an account to access the report as soon as its posted. My PSMA report was posted the same day by SCCA/Fred Hutch/ UW Medicine, but it was done as part of a clinical trial. Keep those positive vibes going!

I have had many over a decade for prostate cancer and they have been posted on my patient portal within a day or two, excluding holidays, etc. Then, there has been a follow-up with oncology within a week. For the layman, the radiology report is a challenge to interpret. Have a medical dictionary handy, take your time and don't jump to conclusions.
If you have been waiting a week AND you have no follow-up appointment scheduled, I'd be making some calls. Good luck.

Most Radiology centers do Patient Portals, so you can access your results. The PSMA scans were on the portal rather quickly, but the radiologists readings took about 10 days to be posted on it. Meanwhile, I could look at the films.
