Chondrosarcoma (Long bone cancer): How are you dealing with pain?

Posted by twinsplusone @twinsplusone, Apr 12 7:44pm

Does anyone else have long bone cancer/chondrosarcoma? This has come from a previous breast cancer.
How are you dealing with pain and a number of other issues that come with this disease?

Welcome, @twinsplusone. I moved your question about chondrosarcoma and pain to the Sarcoma group

I'm inviting fellow members like @richard515 @skullbasecancer4 @dmopao80 @sherlock999 @smk25, who have experience with chondrosarcoma and may have advice to offer.

@twinsplusone, have you had any treatment to manage the sarcoma? It sounds like side effects of the disease are not yet under control. Do you see a pain management and/or palliative specialist to help?

I have an appt with a pain management doctor coming up. Otherwise I am taking tramadol. The pain continues to get worse. What's next in this journey?

For context I am 71.

I am on a base patch of 25mcg of Abstral with sublingual 200 mcg for breakthrough pain.

I take 5mg of Endone 3 times a day.

Big consequences for the digestive system.

Despite this I still have breakthrough pain daily. But the disease is very advanced now. Facing bedridden hospital palliative care.

Richard I am so glad you replied. I will show your list of meds to my doc. I am only taking tramadol and it's not very effective. How do your meds make you feel and how long have you known about your cancer? I am 81 and was diagnosed a year ago but have had it for at least 4 years. I am still mobile with a walker but the pain is constant. I think you have been on this path a little longer and would love to hear all about your journey. Any any information you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you for commenting
