This dialogue is so very helpful. I have a 5.0-5.1 ascending aortic aneurysm with a highly functioning tricuspid valve and otherwise very healthy. My aneurysm has been the same size since 2019 and I’d like to keep it that way. I’m desperately trying to lose 15-20lbs. I’m 67, 6 feet tall and currently weigh 220. My bp is under control but now I’d like to drop some weight. Unfortunately I’ve cut back on cardio since Jan. I’m curious about anyone’s experiences with managing their lifestyle in order to better manage their condition, without having the recommended surgery.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. 67, 6' 2" or at least used to be. Just had a 6 month follow up CT scan and my ascending aortic aneurysm has remained the same size at 4,3 cm. I take metropolol and chlorthalidone which keeps my BP between 90/50 in the mornings and 110/60. I have stopped working out with weights and go on hikes with my wife on trails we have on our land. I lost about 45 lbs. last year via the carnivore/keto diet. I take a wide selection of suppliments such as Gotu Kola, Pyconynol, L Citruline, L Argenine, Magnesium Citrate, Magnesium Chloride, Berberine, and Vitamin K2 MK7 just to name a few which if I understand may or can help with arterial health and support. ALL of the suppliments I take with the knowledge and approval of my primary care doctor and cardiologist. I can't say if the suppliments help or not but my opinion is that they sure can't hurt or at least have not for the many years I have been taking them. Dr. Ford Brewer and better explain how these suppliments work. https://www.youtube.com/@PrevMedHealth

My goal, like you is to Lord willing slide into home plate in my 80's preferably 90's WITHOUT having surgery.

The best to you. I’ve got rid of 18 lbs by cutting out sugar, alcohol, and very low carb dishes. I’ve just started back on 1/2 cup of steel-cut oats with fruit, flaxseed, Curcumin w/pepper. Decaffeinated coffee (black) for breakfast. Fish, fruit, salads Mediterranean dishes no breads.
Good luck oh and I got to the gym a few days a week too.
