I’m 70 and will be scheduling my third infusion in a month. I’ve only had the 2-3 day mild flu symptoms right after. I tried alendronate for 2 months but it upset my stomach each time it took the pill, I could not continue to take it especially if there was another option.

My eGFR did drop 30 points (79 to 49) after the second infusion but jumped back up to 79 when it was re-checked weeks later. My primary physician said the drop in eGFR might be as much from dehydration as the Reclast. On some of these procedures I drive 3 hours to the facility and I do limit water intake so I don’t have to stop more than once. So it’s possible.

It’s important before and after the infusion to majorly hydrate and take Tylenol the day before and morning of. The infusion center should provide info on what to do based on your situation.

My mother had spinal compressions and was in constant pain. I want to do what I can to prevent that. Two of my three sisters have also taken alendronate and Prolia. I’m afraid my third sister perhaps has not had good medical care as she says no bone issues.
