Hi, I've recently been diagnosesed with Dementia. .I was so so scared-- but then I learned somethings that allow me to calm down some and try take each day as it comes. Apparently, there are different stages and different aspects of the disease. So learn all you can!!!
1. So first step for me: T alk with more than one doctor; read up on the disease(s) to learn as much as I can.
2. Make loved-ones aware of my new illness, ask for their "suggestions. but not their orders, and realizing that the very name of the disease scares them too.
3. Plan for my future the same way I would ordinarily, being 81 years old soon: Nursing home? Remain at home with in-home care? With a family member (probably not)
4. Finally or First--- Pray for Wisdom and Courage.
5. Since life isn't forever -- under the best circumstances-- try to live and engage each day as though it might be the last, -- and as a person of Faith--Trust in the Creator's Love and Mercy!!!

I'd took me a while to remember that I'd written the above. But my POV hasn't changed. My love and prayers to you all!!!
