Rezum for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)

I was battling BPH since I was 40. Local doc said I was 10 years younger than almost all of them. My prostate got bigger and bigger. At the age of 62 I finally went to Mayo. I read up on the TURP and the other things but decided on the REZUM because it had the lowest chance of side effects. The steam ball is contained within the prostatic capsule, the urethra is only traversed to gain entry to the sidewalls (just beyond) and the steam ball is kept away from the ejaculatory ducts. I had the procedure but doc had to give me ten shots of steam because my gland was over 100 cc/ml. Wore catheter for a few days, not pleasant but I've had worse. In the first few months maybe some improvement but now 3 years later just as bad or worse. No leaking, no problems with fruition, just got to get up 3 times a night to urinate. Now considering what to do, HOLEP?

First, sorry your nightmare came back and I hope today finds you well.
I too started BPH symptoms early (36) by 50 I had total blockage. Retrograde from meds , 3 times a night would’ve been nice. I went 3 times an hour most times for measly drops that took 10-15 minutes. There were many nights I spent more times sitting on my toilet because I was too tired to stand. Then I did in my own bedroom. I’m going on day 71 since my HOLEP. I’ve had absolutely no issues whatsoever. Everything is back to normal and I mean everything. I live with this nightmare for over 10 years but the aggressive stage for the last six. I saw a Dr. in Boise, Idaho.

I had REZUM and had no benefit. I decided I wanted HoLEP, but my urologist just did TURP and REZUM. I found a Urologist who does HoLEP and on the first appointment he said He wouldn't have guessed I had had REZUM if I hadn't told him. I had the HoLEP two weeks ago and the improvements are starting to appear. The stream is stronger and contains more volume. The Overactive Bladder is slowly going away. Blood and small clots appeared in the urine for about a week and are now gone. I'm happy and look forward to continuing improvements.
