Reclast infusion today
I just wanted to let people know about my recent Reclast infusion. I hydrated for a couple of days before the infusion with water and coconut water for potassium. I take ionic magnesium daily in water and drink it all day. Before my infusion I took ibuprofen and 4 Zyrtec. 2 in the AM, which I normally take and 2 more an hour before the 2 pm infusion. My specialist told me I can take that for my severe allergic reaction to fragrance. Even though the hospital is fragrance free, I always run into fragrance there. This time is was the warm blanket and pillow.
About 5 pm, I started feeling wishy washy like I had to think hard about doing things. For example, using the microwave I turned on the vent while cooking. When I no longer needed the fan, I couldn't find the correct button to shut the vent fan off. It was un-nerving. Eventually, I figured it out. It reminded me of when I had bad Lyme disease. I was extremely hungry, ate my dinner and then ate a whole sleeve of crackers, which I have never done before. I got very tired and went to bed early. I had strange dreams. For example, I dreamt I grew a second spine. When I woke up my body was achy and I felt nauseous. Today, I am able to putter around, but it is a low energy day. If this is as bad as it gets, and is temporary, I would get the infusion again, if it helps retain the bone that I hopefully built with the 12 months of Evenity. If anything changes, or gets worse, I will let you know.

I’m glad things have improved for you! I have decided that I will not be going for any more infusions. I saw my primary Friday and she did suggest I continue and that they were going to use a different medication that don’t have the potential side effects, only one with the new medication, Could be severe back pain….nothing I’m willing to gamble for!
Best wishes!
I had my Reclast Infusion on 4/1/25. I am 8 days out. First two days was headaches with cold sweats and shaking. Fourth day my eye began hurting & got worse if I touched my eyelid. Horrible headaches. Monday called eye doctor and saw Tuesday (4/8). He said I’m fine and to second eyedrops and let him know if light becomes too bright or if I have to wear sunglasses in house. Monday afternoon I started aching in my left back of head, it went into neck area and now neck and shoulder. I feel crummy. I took Prolia for 2 years. Prolia never bothered me when I got shot, but it crippled me in agonizing pain for last two shots about month and half after getting shot. A good three months in bed waking up wondering if I could walk. Frankly, I’m really sick of headaches. I’m peeing all night. Idk I take pain meds for chronic pain and I have to take Tylenol with pain meds. My blood pressure shot up from 120’s/64 to 157/88 and hands swelling. I can’t live with the headaches everyday. It’s unbearable. I refuse to ever take another infusion of any osteoporosis medicine. This stuff is horrendous. I’ll take calcium and vit d - bone strengthening exercises. I’m 73 in 2 weeks and now I’m probably going to miss Easter, my birthday and Mother’s Day. Prolia caused me to miss Christmas and NewYear’s last year. I can’t go anywhere. I have no quality of life. It sucks.
Please let me know. See my comment. This has been unpleasant for me and I have been feeling high and out of it as well. I will not do it again. My doctor worries my back has no space between disks, spondylitis and severe scoliosis and she’s afraid I’ll fracture. I wish I had not done this to start with. It’s ruined my life for two years going on three now.
I just finished 12 months on Evenity and will start reclast may 6 and have a dexa April 28. Not-sure why but I may have had a reaction to the Evenity in September my legs like froze and they would’ve move and I feel. I track the date and had more falls and on Christmas Eve around 1am going upstairs same thing happened this time I fell down 9 stairs had 5stitches across eyebrow and fractured right thumb. My legs are weak, walking bad and balance use walker or cane still no answers. Figures it was 7 or so days after Evenity. I am so depressed my life has been homebound and not able to do stairs well and I did fall on Saturday at a restaurant but no major injuries.
I do hope things start getting better for you!
That is TERRIBLE! I wouldn't use osteoporosis meds anymore either. I think I would just approach it solely from nutrients and exercise. I am sorry you are so ill from it and I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you I appreciate your kind words. I have been to my General Dr. rheumatologist, orthopedic doctor and still no real answers. Going back to Pain Management and lastly probably neurologist as suggested by orthopedic.
Just want my life back!
Have you researched the side effects and looked at the forum for this medication? It sounds very typical of statin intolerance, and of these infusions. Best wishes and hope you feel better
As I sit here thinking about a lot of this. I am not suggesting anything to anyone. However, I think about this, this way! Had I never seen an endocrinologist I would not have any knowledge of my bone density and therefore would of never had the Reclast infusion and having to deal with the pain and constant discomfort that I have acquired from receiving it. Granted, they say I am more susceptible to a bone fracture; such as a hip! Well, before the endocrinologist had this knowledge ability a lot of us never acquired a fractured hip and I know, some did. I guess what I am trying to say is that my life was more normal instead of having to deal with constant pain in my shoulders, left foot and constantly feeling exhausted; which could come from the infusion as well as the stress thinking about what a mistake I made having the first infusion. My primary is suggestion that I receive the next infusion because they are not going to use the Reclast. The medication that they are wanting to use has very little side effects, Just the possibility of constant back pain! Really!
