Let me enthusiastically add to your spousal endorsement. The absolutely primary reason I'm optimistic about an ultimately successful outcome to my adenocarcinoma battle is the support of my 52-yr-married, now-retired RN/CSN wife. Caregiving has always come naturally for her and I'm the grateful beneficiary.

MY husband was dx with GE juncture Ca last May. he had 4 rounds of FLOT chemo then surgery( Ivor lewis esophagectomy on 12/31). A few bumps in the road with a small anastomosis leak which had him NPO for 21 days. He had a J tube with feedings. he had a pleural effusion from the leak with a subsequent pigtail chest drainage tube Long story short, he was discharged home with the pigtail Cather, J tube feedings, q6h finger sticks with Insulin coverage. I am a semi retired RN and it was round the clock care (crushing meds via J tube, measuring Pigtail drainage and flushing, tube feedings etc). You are very lucky to have a wife who is an RN because she will be very busy with your post op care! MY husband is now doing much better. he is eating well and becoming more and more active. Good luck with your journey , you are in good hands
