My surgeon told me that my best outcome would be due to having chemo, radiation and an Ivor Lewis esophogectomy. I was staged 3 locally advanced though. Anyway, you always can get a second opinion. Any responsible doctor would respect that. Good luck to you.

Following up on old unanswered post. I recovered from chemo and radiation for esophageal cancer tumor with no long term side affects. However, I since have had several other cancers and had surgery for kidney cancer and thyroid cancer. I most recently also have radiation again for prostrate cancer but no cheni this time. My PSA was indetectable at last checkup. How are you doing now?
