I have been taking Ativan in small doses since Sept. of 2024 when a primary care doctor prescribed it along with Ambien for sleep and Effexor for depression and anxiety. I had been on Effexor for 25 years before I decided to taper off because I thought at my age (then 77) I could manage without it. Big mistake. I tried to reintroduce the Effexor 9 months later due to crippling anxiety but was not successful. I have been to many nurse practitioners who prescribed various combinations of anti depressants but without success. They were reluctant to prescribe any Ativan but did anyway when they realized I was barely functioning. I had lost a tremendous amount of weight in a matter of two months and have not been able to regain any even with eating all day and into the night. The nurses who prescribed various combinations do it in .5 doses for a quantity of 30 pills for a month’s use. Half the time the Ativan is ineffective despite all the prescriptions being from the same manufacturer (Leading Pharma). I don’t think the I will be able to get any prescriptions in the future. I did not abuse my prescriptions.
