The one that gave me trouble was the Healthmate plus that was impregnated with potassium iodide.
They now have an another one that I inquired about, The Austin Air Bedroom Machine; this was the response from the manufacturer….
The Bedroom filter has an additional 5th stage filter (the others have 4 ) which is Military Carbon Cloth and is our most comprehensive filter. This HEGA carbon cloth adds another layer of protection. It has antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Everyone’s olfactory senses are different. Some people can smell the Potassium Iodide that is impregnated in our HealthMate Plus filters but this additive is not in the Bedroom Machine so no.
So after seeing this response, I might order the Bedroom Machine to try it as a second unit.
