Two years after complete knee replacement
Bend is at 116°. Still feels a little stiff and little uncomfortable walking OK up and down steps pretty good some discomfort on steps after a day of working in the yard. I have an appointment next Monday with the knee doctor not sure what he’s gonna recommend but he had talked about removing scar tissue. How would he actually know that there scar tissue in there without some type of test? I guess I’ll find out Monday. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you.

Wow..... I would be so grateful for 116 deg. After my first TKR, I only had 40 degrees for a number of years. The PT at that time was aggressive and painful, setting us up for scar tissue because of all the inflammation that kind of pain causes. Also,, at that time, there was no such thing as pain management, and that also makes Arthrofibrosis more likely.
If I had 116 degrees, and was in a manageable movement and pain situation, I would avoid another knee surgery. It would just be a "crap shoot" (sorry). Additional insults to the joint make the likelihood of scar tissue increase.
Check out the International Arthrofibrosis Association - lots of valuable information there. Also, medicine is working on pharmacological treatments for scar tissue, and that will improve with more knowledge and more clinical trials. Please, just give this some thought.
