Hi, I’m fairly new to the site and just into my treatment and have been on Orgovyx for a little over a week. How do you manage the cost of Orgovyx over a long period of time? Thanks

That's correct about Medicare but with a caveat: Orgovyx has to be a covered drug under your Medicare drug plan. The $2k out of pocket max only applies to covered drugs.
I have Medicare with an Advantage Plan. Orgovyx is not a covered drug for me. For this year, 2025, I switched from Lupron (covered) to Orgovyx and it cost me $861 for each January and February. My March and April shipments do not cost me anything. This is part of the $2K cap for the year. Who know what will happen for 2026, with this current administration. I can't imagine a lifetime of this medication. My sentence was for 24 months with 10 months down already. New oncologist thinks MAYBE I can stop at 18 months if PSA stays down.
Well are you sure it's not being covered? I think it is. The figures you provided sound like your copay because the actual cost of the drug is $2,800+. So I'm guessing that with your March refill you will reach the $2k cap.

I had prostatectomy in 2014 and I since then, I had 2 radiation therapy done, one after 6 months of the surgery, and one 6 years after. The radiation treatment was done because my PSA level was rising but not very much. But my PSA level was rising so fast since 2019 and in 2022, my PSA was 3+ and then was 5.5 in the middle of 2024. When I was called by my Hematologist to start ADT, he said he I can start with Lupron, like getting injection every 3 months. But I did some research before I went to see him and I read online about Orgovyx, that it is a better alternative than Lupron. So, I suggested to the doctor that I take Orgovyx. I started taking Orgovyx in October 6 last year every day and my PSA level dropped from 5.5 to .8 after 19 days, then dropped to .2 after another 20 days. My last lab work last month shows my PSA level is .1 and I think Orgovyx works for me. As to the side effects, it’s true that I had hot flashes but kind of just feeling warm and not even make me sweat. The thing I observed is it makes my bones weak somehow. I had X-ray and MRI last month and the results are that my spine/hips are really kind of showing low bone density, so I may have a bone density check to get a schedule of. But taking Orgovyx while traveling, I don’t worry of the hot flashes effects.
I recently started Orgovyx. I was encouraged to take Calcium and Vitamin D. (I have read elsewhere that Vitamin K2 M7 guides the calcium to bone more so than to the cardio vascular system. Those on blood thinners should not take Vitamin K without talking with medical oncologist.) Strength exercise (resistance) helps mineralize bones.
STAMPEDE trial showed that metformin, a cheap drug, mitigates side effects of hormone deprivation therapy without affecting its therapeutic effect.

I’m into my third month and get several hot flashes a day. They are warm but bearable. Did my first radiation treatment this morning. 27 more to go.
