Life after 6 years of cured(I hope!) colon cancer..need support

Posted by shemoul @shemoul, Mar 26 5:36am

I was diagnosed with ascending colon cancer 6 years ago then went through surgery, chemotherapy folfox 3 moths, folferi 3 months then xeloda 6 months. I was doing great for 5 years then from the 6 th year I started having diarrhea and serious digestive issues. I have done all the tests but all is below the referral value except my TG level.
Suffering everyday with what to eat and list 5 kg in 10 months. Any word of solace?

I have diarrhea regularly from the folfiri, they have me taking anti-diarrhea pills every 2 hours to help be more regular. Are you taking anything over the counter?

Now that it's been years and haven't t taken any chemo medicines. The doctors say that I have developed bile acid malabsorbtion BAM..so he gave olestar sachet which helped minimize the diarrhea.

Since your triglycerides are high, have you tried a low fat diet?

Digestive enzymes such as CREON may also help.

Thank you for sharing this post. It’s interesting to read how many people aren’t diagnosed. Good for your medical people picking it up given your history of chemo.

I hope your diet management provides the necessary relief.
