I was told that if I don’t have a spinal fusion with a laminectomy, I will get drop foot. I’ve been putting surgery off for a few years and I have noticed weakness in both legs. I’m scared to have surgery and I don’t know if I should.

@mrsbw I sure can understand your concerns over spine surgery. There may come a day when your fear of not correcting the problem is greater than your fear of surgery. Nerves can be damaged permanently which leads to poor recovery after surgery. I was a caregiver to both my disabled parents in wheelchairs and I wanted none of that if I had a choice that could prevent a disability. I did have weakness in my legs and arms caused by spinal cord compression in my neck. I had drop foot and was walking with a limp and that resolved after the compression was removed from my spinal cord. What levels has your surgeon offered to fix? Spine surgery gave me my function back.
