I certainly understand the pain you experienced. I go in 2 days for my 9th pair of injections and each month my pain escalates. I have extreme difficulty even getting out of bed in the morning. What is worse is that I have been on opioid paid relievers since 2001 as a result of cervical spine surgery and 12 vertebral osteoporotic compression fractures and due to Evenity my pain level is at least a 9 out of 10 every single .owning until I put a heat pack on which covers my neck, shoulders, and goes all of the way down my back.
My T Score when starting Evenity was -4.2 so I am desperate to do anything which might improve my bone health even a little. My nurse tells me that the pain is a good sign because it means the treatment is working. I certainly hope so. I'm not fooling myself, not anticipating a significant change but any improvement may mean the difference between a hip fracture or not. My goal is prevention of ANY fracture in my future.
What I do not understand was your decision to stop the Evenity treatment with one pair of injections left. If you were already in pain, one more month wouldn't have made so big a difference in your pain level but the trials indicated 12 months of treatment for a reason and you cut yourself short. I do hope that you maintain your results but now you'll never know how much better your results could have been had you gone through the entire treat plan.

Hi, I am sorry for the pain you are experiencing. Evenity is most effective building bone the first six months and then is better in helping maintain what bone has been built as I understand it. I stopped after 11 months because I had zero pain prior to Evenity and felt like I had ruined my health. Evenity took my spine numbers from -3.8 to -2.1 which was great. My medical professional advised stopping and going on an anti-resorptive which I did and still do. I do not think I shortchanged myself but I literally was unable to get dressed without quite a bit of pain and was only 66 at the time. It was unsettling to go from no pain and being quite active (skiing, hiking, biking, etc) to not being able to get dressed. I am now back to all but skiing due to a knee and a shoulder surgery (not osteoporosis related!) and am weightlifting and am diligent about food and supplements as well. I wish you the best!
