SI joint or piriformis
I have symptoms in both sides of my back, but left side was brought on in last 3 months from overcompensating from the right side for some years. Symptoms are in the SI joint ligament, and in my left but cheek. Also a lot of hamstring and calf pain (pulling feelings) as well as cramps in foot and some mild shock pain in leg and sometimes foot/toe. Also I cannot sit because of left side, where right side sitting would offer some relief. The not being able to sit now is terrible.
Does not seem to be spine related. SI joint shots have offered some very small relief, but have not got piriformis shots.
Has anyone had significant SI joint issues with similar symptoms and can someone tell me what your piriformis symptoms are? They are trying to pinpoint my issue but it's been life altering the last 5 months.

My husband had nerve ablation for his SI joint pain and his pain was severe. Six weeks later he is pain free much to his relief. Our insurance would not cover so he had to pay but feels it well worth the cost. Good luck finding relief.
I just had endoscopic surgery at L2-3. Previously I had fusions at T11-T12 and L4-S1. This last surgery left me VERY sore in the hips. My surgeon said it was coming from my SI from the way I was lying during surgery. He recommended PT. I have only done PT for 4 days yet, but, no relief. It started on my right side and is now starting on my left side, as well. The doctor did not take X-rays or anything after I complained of pain. Where do I begin getting a thorough diagnosis and treatment plan?
What was the reason for the endoscopic surgery at L2-3 ? How did you do after your fusion of L4S1? Several surgeons told me that I need fusion I think at S 1L 5 I don't know I get it all confused. But I know that I have no disk left between L4 and 5 so they said I need fusion. I've read too many bad things about fusion especially cause I have osteoporosis. I hope your soreness in your hip gets better. Wouldn't that surgeon who did your endoscopic surgery have a diagnosis and treatment plan? Not that I've ever had a treatment plan really I only had one surgery so far that only helped for about 4 months it was just decompression. No my symptoms have come back with twitching and throbbing in my calf muscles.
I had the fusions to decompress my spine. From what I understand, each time they do something like this to your spine it causes adjustments in the rest of your spine. These adjustments then need dealing with. My SI pain is a result of the adjustments my spine made after the 3 surgeries. I have an appointment with my surgeon, now, so we can make a treatment plan. I hope things go well with you.
