Hi Carol. Did you experience heart burn and burping after a cycle? Just wondering if there is anything I can take that doesn't interfere with chemo drugs and could help. I'm being careful with what I eat, but last night was horrible. My oncologist isn't available until Monday to call about.

I was already on 20 mg omeprazole daily and that takes care of heartburn. I did have an issue with feeling like I had to burp or I'd eaten too much when I'd only had a little. I got some probiotics because the chemo kills the good gut bacteria too. It seemed to work great.

If you're prone to heartburn from eating certain things, I'd ask your primary care physician to prescribe the omeprazole. I'm on lowest dose of it. It's prilosec but prescription strength. I have none of the side effects listed. Googling it will take you to the mayo clinic site. I've had it for years and it's awful. I've been on omeprazole for about 3 years and it's a game changer. Good luck.

I hope you have solved your problem for this cycle. When I was on carbo/taxol, I took over-the-counter Pepcid for a couple days every cycle when I had reflux. That worked pretty well. Later I was on a clinical trial where Pepcid didn't work, but over-the-counter Prilosec did.
