My first posting. I've been diagnosed with Mobile Cecum Syndrome & advised to have an ileocecectomy. I suffer excruciating pain intermittently, specifically in ONE SINGLE spot. I've already canceled surgery once. I just don't see how removing the wandering cecum, ileocecal joint, clipping the end of the ileum and few centimeters of the ascending colon and sewing the two ends together is going to stop the pain in that ONE SINGLE spot. The spot of pain does not wander, it is not mobile. How does removing the "mobile" cecum stop the excruciating pain?

I just did first post to someone else with mobile cecum. I'm sorry for what you were going through, but I hope it's better now. I wish you would post again and tell everyone if you had the surgery that was recommended. i'd like to hear patient story about surgery whether it was good or bad. I heard of cecopexy for mobile cecum but it sounds like your surgeon wanted to do a lot more. I hope you got answers to your questions and could tell us what you heard.

Hi drgayle. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I too just found out that I have a mobile cecum and get excruciating pain in my lower right abdomen and under my left rib age . Dr calling it a redundant sigmoid and cecum. So I really don’t know anything about it. I really think adhesions have constricted my intestines in two places so not allowing formed stool, even soft,to pass through.
Worse part for me is my doctor isn’t considering this serious, says my pain is a spasm and to take laxatives. Believe me, and sounds like you know. That pain is a lot more than a spasm and to!!
